Weapon supplier held with 5 glock pistols in Ferozepur
FEROZEPUR: In a major breakthrough amidst the ongoing drive to make Punjab a safe and secure state, Counter Intelligence (CI) Ferozepur has busted a cross-border illegal arms trafficking module with the arrest of its weapon supplier and recovered five .30 bore Glock pistols along with four live cartridges from their possession, said Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav here on Tuesday.
The arrested accused has been identified as Lakhwinder Singh, a resident of village Khehra Ke Uttar in Ferozepur. The arrested accused has a criminal background and released from jail a month ago.
DGP Gaurav Yadav said that preliminary investigation has revealed that the recovered weapons were allegedly smuggled into India through cross-border channels and intended for further distribution through the network.
The DGP said that further investigation is underway to uncover forward and backward linkages in this case to identify all individuals associated with the module.
Sharing operational details, AIG CI Ferozepur Gursewak Singh said that police teams had received a reliable input about suspect Lakhwinder Singh working as a weapon supplier in the region.
