Jalandhar Rural Police Arrest Three in Lohian Gangrape Case; One Accused Still Absconding

PHAGWARA: Jalandhar Rural Police have arrested three men in connection with the brutal gangrape of a migrant woman and her daughter in the Lohian area, following swift action .

The attack occurred around 12:30 am on the night of November 23–24, when four armed assailants allegedly forced their way into a motor home in village Kang Kalan, held a family hostage, and repeatedly raped a 35-year-old woman and her 19-year-old daughter.

The husband and three young children were reportedly locked in another room and threatened with death.

An FIR under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita was registered at Police Station Lohian on November 24, prompting the formation of a special investigation team.

DIG Jalandhar Range Naveen Singla while giving details told this correspondent on Saturday that with the use of technical and human intelligence, police traced and arrested the accused on November 29 from Kandnuma Rest House near Lohian railway station. Those arrested have been identified as Sajjan, son of Mark; Roki, son of late Shaukat; and Arshpreet Singh alias Arsh, son of Ranjit Singh. Two unnumbered motorcycles and weapons allegedly used in the crime were recovered.

DIG Singla said the accused confessed to entering the premises with the intent to commit theft before carrying out the assault. All three have previous criminal records, and a court has remanded them to police custody for further investigation, including a planned crime-scene reconstruction. A fourth accused,  Rajan alias Rohit, remains absconding, and search operations are underway.
