Gang of robbers busted: six arrested

NURMAHAL: The Criminal Investigating Agency (CIA) of the Jalandhar (rural) police on Sunday claimed to have busted a gang of robbers with the arrest of its six members. Fire Arms, sharp edged weapons and two four wheel vehicles with fake registration numbers were recovered from their possession.

This was confirmed by SP(D) Manprit Dhillion while talking to this correspondent here today. He said that acting on a tip-of a CIA team led by Sub Inspector Surindar Singh conducted a raid at cremation grounds at Kot Badal Khan village where they were planning to robe a petrol pump on the Nurmahal-Talwann road. Six accused were arrested and two pistols (32 bore) with 6 cartridges, three pistols (315 bore) with 5 cartridges, one Innova, one I-20 with fake numbers and sharp edged weapons were recovered from their possession.


SP said that the accused have been identified as Pawan Kumar alias Mattar a resident of Uppal Khalsa village, Amar Mandip Singh and Harindarpal residents of Kot Badal Khan village, Gagandip Singh a resident of Uppal Jagir village and Gurprit Singh a resident of Nariyala village under Mahil Pur police station Hoshiar Pur .

SSP said that a case under section 399(making preparation to commit decoity) and 402(Assembling for purpose of committing dacoity) and 482 (Punishment for using a false property mark.) Of the IPC and sections 25/54/59 of the Arms Act has been registered against the accused at Nurmahal police station and further investigations are on adding that many cases are pending against the accused in different police stations.
