PHAGWARA: The Nakodar Sadar police have arrested an absconding member of a gang of traffickers’ women indulging in buying and selling newborn babies.
Investigating Officer (IO) Angrej Singh said that the accused has been identified as Shamsher Singh alias Shera’s a resident of Kot Guru Village under Sangat police station in Bhatinda district.
IO said Rannjit Kaur wife of Rajindar Singh a resident of Manjit Nagar Ludhiana and his son Jagjit Singh were arrested on November 22 with a newly born baby who told during interrogation that they have formed a gang which purchase newborn babies from poor families and sell them in lakhs of rupees to rich families.IO said eight members of Gang including women have been arrested already .
IO said a case under sections 143(4, 5) (trafficking of person), 61(2) (criminal conspiracy) of the BNS and section 80 of J.J. Act (juvenile justice )2015 was registered against the accused and raids are being conducted to arrest an absconding member of gang Manjit Kaur wife of Daljit Singh a resident of Partap Nagar Ludhiana.
