AMRITSAR: With the Supreme Court of India, in its landmark judgment yesterday, ‘reviving’ the Khalsa University, the management is all set to roll on its one of the most prestigious educational project from the next academic session of 2025-26.
The office-bearers of the College Governing Council led by honourary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina said that they would soon chalk out their programs for spearheading this ambitious and long-cherished varsity dream.

Chhina said that the congratulatory messages had been pouring in from throughout the world as all sections were delighted that the Khalsas will have their own University.
He said the Khalsa University (KU) will be a multi-faculty, professional University that will give a boost to higher education and research in the entire border region of Punjab. “The focus will be on multi disciplinary and professional courses”, said Chhina.

He said various Colleges already functional would be part of the University. However the iconic Khalsa College would remain as a separate entity and continue to be affiliated with the Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU). The KU meanwhile will have technical and latest courses as per the curriculum of international standards with the focus on sports, research and job-oriented degree programs.

Chhina who met various Principals of the Khalsa institutions said admissions for graduate, post-graduate and doctoral degrees programs in almost all subjects including Agriculture, Engineering, Aviation, Pharmacy, Nursing, Education, Physical Education, Languages, Sikh History, Law, Library Sciences, Medical Lab Technology.
The KCGC has sufficient infrastructure available to run the university from its existing buildings on the Ram Tirath Road side of the campus adjoining the Khalsa College of Law and Khalsa College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences.

Chhina earlier stated that they will not prefer traditional courses which are already being offered by GNDU and Khalsa College itself. He said they will tie-up with the other world universities for international educational cooperation and research.
He hoped that they would introduce Sikh History and Research Centre, apart from the Centre for competitive examinations and faculty education programs.
