MOHALI: Gulab Chand Kataria, Punjab Governor, here today paid glowing tributes to Guru Tegh Bahadur and said that he had made supreme sacrifice for safeguarding Kashmiri pandits.
Speaking after receiving Dharm Rakhiak Yatra at Rayat Bahra University, he said the supreme sacrifice made by Guru Tegh Bahadur was unparalleled in history.
The Governor said the martyrdom of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji stands as an eternal inspiration for the defense of human rights and freedom of faith.
He said to commemorate martyrdom day of Guruji functions were being organised not only in Punjab but all over the country.
The Governor felicitated President of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) Harmeet Singh Kalka, and other DSGMC office bearers.
He also extended his best wishes to the devotees participating in the Yatra.
The devotees participating in the Yatra were served langar at Rayat Bahra University.
The langar was organised by Joint Association of Colleges, Punjab, PUCA, and Federation of Private Schools, Punjab.
Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Chancellor of Rayat Bahra University, said it was a privilege to organise langar for the devotees.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included Satnam Singh Sandhu, Rajya Sabha MP and Chancellor of Chandigarh University, Dr Anshu Kataria, Chairman of Aryans Group of Colleges, Dr Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal, Nirmal Singh, Kamal Tiwari, SS Chatha, Sushil Bansal, and Karanbir Singh Tohra.
