NEW DELHI: UPL has intensified action against the manufacturing and sale of suspected lookalike versions of its patented herbicides Triskele (marketed by UPL SAS and Trishuk (marketed by SWAL), following enforcement-led raids in UP, Haryana and Punjab. The company has reiterated that strict legal and financial action will be initiated against any entities found violating its intellectual property rights.
According to the company, it has identified products in the market with branding and packaging that closely resemble Trishuk and Triskele at significantly lower prices, potentially creating confusion among farmers.
UPL conducted raids, with the help of enforcement authorities, in Muzaffarnagar & Sikandarabad – UP, Karnal - Haryana and Dera Bassi - Punjab in May & June 2026. During these raids, the authorities have seized materials at the manufacturing units, and collected crucial evidence related to distribution networks and their associated parties. The company has indicated that this matter will be pursued through appropriate legal channels and subject to findings, necessary action will be taken against involved entities. Manufacturers of lookalike products have adopted brand names and packaging that closely resemble the original products in an attempt to create confusion among consumers. Some of the lookalike brands include Trish, Trishaan, Trishool, Trisum, Twinkle, Agniveer, Trikal, Tridev, PCL Prahar, XYZ, Kamtris among others.
UPL holds the patent for its formulation 2,4-D Sodium Salt 44% + Metribuzin 35% + Pyrazosulfuron-Ethyl 1.0% WDG , which is a post-emergence herbicide. The company has reaffirmed that it will pursue all necessary legal measures to protect its intellectual property, including action against manufacturers, distributors and retailers found to be involved in the sale of products that infringe or appear to infringe its rights.
