Punjab to take on Kerala in Ranji Trophy in Trivandrum

CHANDIGARH: Punjab team, led by Mandeep Singh, will lock horns with Kerala in their Elite A Group Ranji Trophy league match to be played at Trivandrum from January 11 to 14.  Punjab have so far garnered 18 points in their four matches and are heading the points table with Karnataka 16 points in the second place.
Their adversaries Kerala have so far logged three points.  Punjab secured seven points against Rajasthan, seven against Hyderabad, three against Vidarbha and one against Delhi. Punjab team will be missing the services of their Vice Captain and opener Shubman Gill who will be leading India – A in One Day against New Zealand from January 17,  in New Zealand.  However, the team will be strengthened in the bowling department by the return of medium pacer Siddharth Kaul who has joined the team after having been declared fit from NCA.
The Punjab team will move from Trivandrum to Valsad to play their next away match against Gujarat from January 19 . Punjab will play their last two home games against Andhra on   February 4 and against Bengal on February 12 at Dhruv Pandove Stadium in Patiala.
PUNJAB U-19 TO PLAY  CHHATTISGARH AT BHILLAI
Punjab who are in Elite Group – A and have played six matches and garnered 23 points will take on Chhattisgarh at Bhillai from  January 11.  The team led by Nehal Wadhera left for Bhillai this afternoon.
 Punjab U-19 team played their last match against Delhi at Dhruv Pandove Stadium in Patiala and were robbed of an opportunity of securing an outright win because of two days play being lost to rains and the match being drawn with first innings unfinished.
 After having scored 489 Punjab had reduced Delhi to 116 for 4 before rain played spoil sport.  Punjab will be looking to score outright wins against Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh in their last two league matches to stay ahead in the race for a knock out berth.  Punjab team will move to Ongle to take on Andhra on January 18 for their last league encounter.
