Elavenil Valarivan wins silver; team bronze

CHANDIGARH: Elavenil Valarivan clinched silver medal in the women's 10m Air Rifle in the 30th Summer Universiade Games in Napoli (Italy). The Indian shooter Elavenil logged 225.2 points in the final round to finish second behind Brazdova Lucie of Czech Republic with  250.3 points. Lin Ying-Shin of Chinese Taipei  obtained 205.4 points to finish third.

The Indian women's team also bagged bronze medal in Air Rifle Women Team competitions. The Indian team comprising Nina Chandel, Elavenil Valarivan and Aayushi Gupta secured 1866.2 points for the bronze medal. . Nina Chandel is from the Panjab University.
After the fifth round in shotgun trap event, Chaudhary Bhavna of India was fifth with 97 points.
