Chandigarh boy Arnav Aggarwal tops PSPB trials

CHANDIGARH: Sixth class student of Gurukul Global School, Manimajra, Arnav Aggarwal, topped the Petroleum Sports Promotion Board Table Tennis trails (PSPB) held at Ajmer (Rajasthan) on June 10 and 11.

Players from all over the country participated in the trails. The selection trials were conducted under the supervision of Dronacharya Bhavani Mukherjee, Arjuna awardee Manjit Singh Dua and chief referee Atul Dubey in the presence of K.L. Tejwani, PSPB Joint Secretary and former TTFI secretary General Dhanraj Choudhary.

The PSPB Academy has a reputation of nurturing and grooming young talent for more two decades now since its inception in 1995.

Arnav Aggarwal started playing table tennis at the age of 7 and has won the Chandigarh State Table Tennis Championship in Cadet Boys (under 12 years), Sub-Junior Boys (under 15 years) and got the third place in Junior boys (under 18 years) in 2015-16. There have been many occasions when Arnav Aggarwal won Kids (under 10), Cadet (under 12) and Sub junior (under 15) boys single titles in Chandigarh State and Open table tennis championship. He also led the Chandigarh table tennis cadet team in 78th Cadet and Sub-Junior National Table Tennis Championship 2016 which was held at Siliguri (North Bengal) from December 1 to 6.

Arnav Aggarwal was also honored by Haryana and Punjab Governor at Haryana Raj Bhawan after winning the Ist Kinderpiller Inter-media and Cadet Open TT Tournament which was held in Chandigarh on April 6 and 7 April 2015.

At present his ranking in India is 12th in Cadet Boys (under 12 years) and he will start his journey this year as rank 2 in India.
