AG Club beat SGGSH Club 4-3 via penalty shootout in final

CHANDIGARH: AG Club won the Chandigarh State Hockey Championship by beating Sri Guru Gobind Singh Hockey Club, Sector 26 by 4-3 in penalty shootout after sharing six goals in the regulation period in the final at the Sector 42 Hockey Stadium here today.

In the evenly contested final, Sahibjeet drew first blood for SGGSH Club by scoring a field goal in the third minute of the match. AG Club took time to settle down and scored two successive goals. In the 13th minute Sunil restored parity for AG Club with a field goal and Gaurav put them 2-1 ahead with a field goal in the 31st minute.
SGGSH Club hit back through Haspreet who converted a penalty corner to help his team level the score 2-2 in the 40th minute.
Maintaining their pressure SGGSH Club against took the lead with a field goal coming from the stick of Jasdeep in the 45th minute. Three minutes later, AG Club neutralised the lead as Jagroop converted a penalty corner.
 AG Club clinched the issue via penalty shootout by 4-3.
Indo-Tibetan Border Police secured third position by beating Central Industrial Security Force by 3-2 in a classification match for third and fourth positions.
Hockey Chandigarh president and former DGP Punjab Dr. Chander Shekhar distributed the prizes to the teams and officials.
