Uzbekistan proposed to give its support to Haryana in pharmaceutical, industry and commerce

CHANDIGARH: Uzbekistan has proposed to give its support to Haryana in the fields of pharmaceutical industry, industry and commerce, hospitals, tourism. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Republic of India Mr. Farhod Arziev, gave this proposal during his courtesy meeting with the Haryana Chief Minister Mr. Manohar Lal here today.

Sharing more details, Mr. Farhod Arziev informed the Chief Minister that last year Uzbekistan was the “Partner Nation” of the Surajkund International Crafts Mela. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed with Haryana to enhance cooperation in the field of crafts and handicraft.

He also invited the Chief Minister to visit the Crafts and Culture Fair to be held in Uzbekistan in January and the Chief Minister happily accepted the invitation. The Chief Minister had also invited Mr. Arziev for the International Geeta Festival to be held in Kurukshetra.

Arziev also informed the Chief Minister that his country has a population of 3 crore, which is slightly more than the population of Haryana.

The Chief Minister made him aware that the Haryana Government has decided to create a dedicated new department namely Department of 'Foreign Cooperation' in order to streamline this kind of cooperation with other countries of the world and  with this senior officers of the Indian Administrative Service has been appointed as  Nodal officer for each country. The Chief Minister said that Additional Chief Secretary, Haryana Tourism, Mr. Vijai Vardhan has been appointed as the nodal officer for Uzbekistan.

Those who were present during the meeting included Chief Secretary Mrs. Keshni Anand Arora, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Mr. Rajesh Khullar, Additional Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr V. Umashankar, Additional Chief Secretary Industries and Commerce Department Mr Devender Singh were also present.
