Haryana power engineers protest against dismissals

KURUKSHETRA:Haryana Power Engineers continued their protest for third day against dismissals and reversions of sub divisional officers working in Dakshin Haryana Vidhyut Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) and  Haryana Vidhyut Prasaran Nigan (HVPN).

The protest meetings have been held at more than six circle headquarters where all engineers up to level of superintending engineers are participating .  Protest   meetings were held today  at Kurukshetra and Ambala .

The meeting at Ambala was addressed by R K Khanna  S E  operation , J S Sarvara SE HVPN , Gaurav Lochab  and at Kurukshetra it was  addressed by  K S Bhoria SE Operation M S Dhiman and Ranbir Deshwal . V K Gupta a spokesperson of All India power Engineers federation also attended the meeting.

K K Malik General Secretary of the Haryana Power Engineers Association addressed the protest meetings at both the places .He said that power utility management has issued dismissal of 5 SDOs and reverted another 6 SDOs to the post of junior engineers who could not pass departmental accounts examination in time. In addition to this notices have been issued to 12 SDOs of HVPN and UNBVN  for  terminating their services. .

The Zonal body meeting  condemned the autocratic decision of management and  demanded that decision of management be revoked and these engineers be given additional chance to clear departmental accounts exam as core competency expected from an engineer is engineering and not accounting.  The Association also demanded that amended rules which provide for  such harsh punishments should be revised to orignol system as prevalent in other states. The engineers who have crossed the age of 50 years should be exempted from this examination.

Malik said that the Association has written to the managements of power utilities seeking meeting to resolve the issue but no reply has been received so for. Today Association has written to Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister to intervene in the matter.

Zonal body also showed its resentment on the attitude of management for not giving meeting time to the Association   it was also decided that in case management failed to settle the issue till then the decision to intensify the agitation will be taken after November 22.
