CP inaugurates ultra modern Cyber Crime Cell in Police Lines

JALANDHAR: In order to efficaciously tackle the Cyber Crime in the city, the Commissioner of Police Jalandhar Praveen Kumar Sinha today inaugurated the hi-tech Cyber Crime Cell in the local Police lines.
Divulging the details after inaugurating the cell, the Commissioner of Police said that Cybercrime was a major challenge for the Police force and keeping in view the glorious tradition of the Punjab Police to embrace such challenges from the front, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police has launched this cell. He said that the ultra-modern cell would cater to all the complaints pertaining to the crimes being done through the internet thereby checking them with a heavy hand. Sinha said that though the cybercrime was relatively a new domain for the Punjab Police with the launch of this cell they would meet this challenge efficiently.

The Commissioner of Police said that since long a need has been felt to equip the Police with a technical expertise to deal with the complaints related to cybercrime. He said that today was a momentous occasion as this state of the art cell would be instrumental in meeting the challenge of cybercrime on one hand and facilitating the people on the other. Sinha said that three teams of highly professional Police officers have been constituted for this cell, which would operate totally on scientific lines.

The Commissioner of Police said that team I would cater to Facebook-related cases, Instagram, Twitter, Bloggers, Snapchat, Whatsapp and case of Pornography. Likewise, he said that team II would deal with cases of online Fraudulent Transactions, ATM Frauds, Phishing, Vishing and Smishing. In the same manner, Sinha said that the team III would deal with e-mail frauds, tracking of stolen/ missing laptops, Spoofing/ VOIP Calls, and Hacking.
