PHAGWARA : Claiming that SAD-BJP has lost the battle of the ballot in Punjab, before it began, General Secretary of PPCC, Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary today said while BJP is forced to rely on “Parachute” candidates, SAD could not find any local face and had to depend on “outsiders” in most of the Lok Sabha constituencies.
“Bringing film stars like Sunny Deol from Gurdaspur or fielding ‘alien’ like Hardeep Puri from Amritsar, shows the desperation and frustration of the saffron party, as it could not find any winnable face in Punjab”, Vikramjit said while addressing a series of political rallies at village Indra Colony, Village Bansian Dhak, village Dayalpur, village Sailkiana, village Sodon and village Powari in Phillaur assembly segment.
It is shame on BJP, as Modi was seen asking votes for the sake of “Martyrs” of Pulwama and “so-called” airstrikes against Pakistan, Vikramjit said while quipping “where is Vikas (development) of BJP, which they showed to voters in 2014 to woo people or making fraud with them?” “Modi’s Vikas (Development) has died in just five years”, he said.
“Now Modi wants to send Sunny Deol to Pakistan to take revenge, as he (Sunny) did in the film Gadar”, Vikramjit said “Modi ji yeh public hai jo sab jaandi hai (Public knows everything), leaving the gathering with amusing and laugh.
Look at the BJP’s manifesto, which promised withdrawal of article 370 and 35A from Jammu & Kashmir, construction of Ram Mandir, uniform civil code, Vikramjit Singh said adding that it looks like “Old Wine in New Bottle”, as the same promises were in BJP’s agenda since its inception.
“What step BJP took on these promises, when it got a massive mandate in 2014 – they just slept over it and now again took these issues out from “Thanda basta”, Vikramjit said adding that people cannot be taken on the ride again and again on the same promises.
The fact that the BJP has chosen to field two candidates from outside for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections has only reinforced the fact that the central command has no faith in the Punjab leadership. The third candidate, too, had served as a civil servant before joining the state politics.
On the other hand, SAD, which claims itself a champion of Sikhs’ affairs, could not find local candidates in several constituencies like Jalandhar, Faridkot and Fatehgarh Sahib and fielded “outsiders”, who doesn’t know even the geography of their constituencies.
“In most of the villages of Punjab, SAD candidates are even not allowed to enter villages to seek votes due to the allegations of sacrileges of Shiri Granth Sahib, which Akalis are finding hard to face”, Vikramjit Singh.
He claimed that people have made up their mind to show the door to NDA government by pressing the button of Congress on EVMs in the ensuing Lok Sabha election.
“The days of Modi Sarkar are numbered and on May 23, Congress is all set to get the absolute majority to form the new government at Centre”, he said.He was accompanied by BCC chief Davinder Lasara, Zilaparishad Member Harmesh Lal, Chairman Makhan Khera.
