PHAGWARA: There is great resentment among the people of the area over the poor condition of Banga Road connecting Phagwara to Nawanshahr. Due to the deep and wide potholes in the middle of this road, a major accident can happen at any time.
Some of the pits are several meters wide in which the tire of a vehicle can cause loss of life as it is rainy season and rain water fills up in these pits. It is mentioned here that there are many banks, schools, a post office, many marriage palaces etc. located on this road and also the historical Gurdwara Sri Sukhchainana Sahib and Sri Vishwakarma Mandir are visited by a large number of devotees from this road. The locals know the state of these water filled pits but the drivers coming from outside have to face a lot of trouble.
Talking about this, the shopkeepers of Banga Road Avtar Singh, Gurdeep Singh, Amit Trehan, Banarsi Das, Gurpreet Singh, Manjit Singh, Ravinder Kanda, Rajiv Ghai, Mohinderjit Singh Jason, Ramesh Kumar Shah told this correspondent here today that often two wheelers fall into these pits. Drivers inflict injuries Local leaders of the major political parties are not tired of making big claims for the development of the city but the reality of their claims can be understood by looking at the condition of Banga Road.
They asked whether the administration was waiting for a similar accident on Banga Road as a young man from Rawalpindi died due to a crack in the middle of the road due to departmental negligence on Hoshiarpur Road. They raised questions about the existence of the municipal administration and PWD. Urged the department to immediately rebuild the road and also reminded the MLA Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal that he had promised to improve the condition of all the roads leading to Gurdwara Sri Sukhchainana Sahib and now this promise should have been fulfilled. They also said that the road should be rebuilt at a good level .
