Punjab Vigilance nabs secretary Market Committee red handed

CHANDIGARH: State Vigilance Bureau today nabbed a Secretary Market Committee Ludhiana red handed for accepting bribe of Rs.30,000/-.

Disclosing this here today a spokesman of Vigilance Bureau Punjab said Secretary of Market Committee Amandeep Singh Sandhu was caught red handed on the complaint of Gurkamal Singh of Ludhiana.

Giving details he said the complainant approached the VB and alleged that Secretary Amandeep Singh was demanding Rs. 50,000 for favouring him in lieu of fewer reporting in transportation of vegetable laden vehicles but the deal was struck at Rs. 30,000/-.

After verifying his complaint the VB team laid a trap and the accused Secretary was caught red handed and tainted money was recovered from him in the presence of two official witnesses. He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused at VB police station Ludhiana and further investigation was under progress.
