CHANDIGARH: The Punjab Government has issued a notification regarding the 4 percent reservation earlier 3 percent for the physically challenged persons for the purpose of promotions and direct recruitments in Government departments.
Disclosing this here today, an spokesman informed that this notification had been issued under The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016. According to the Article 34 of the said act reservation will be given for the ‘A’, ‘B’, ‘C’ and ‘D’ categories for promotions and direct recruitment. Giving the detailed information, the spokesman said that the persons suffering from blindness and low vision will be given 1 percent reservation, whereas those who are deaf and hard of hearing will also be provided 1 percent reservation. Locomotors disabilities including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims and muscular dystrophy will also be given 1 percent reservation while those suffering from autism, intellectual disability, specific learning disability and mental illness will also given 1 percent each reservation with similar reservation OF 1 percent for Multiple disability from amongst persons under clauses A to D.
