Pujab minister appeals center to set up'Guru Nanak Bagichi' at Kartarpur corridor

CHANDIGARH: With a view to leave no stone unturned to turn the 550th Parkash Purb celebrations of Sahib Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji into memorable ones, the Punjab Government is pulling out all stops. In keeping with the strategy, the Cooperation and Jails Minister, Punjab, S. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa today called upon the Secretary, Border Management, Union Ministry of Home Affairs Mr. B.R. Sharma at the National Capital.

During the meeting, the minister emphasized the creation of ‘Guru Nanak Bagichi’ at a cost of Rs. 67 crore based on the ‘Idea of India’ denoting the multicultural and multiideological dialogue in the best traditions of India as part of the Sri Kartarpur Corridor project. The Bagichi would contain 15 Knowledge Centers dedicated to the 15 saints (Whose works were collected by Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji during his ‘Udasis’) in an eco-friendly environment. The centres would also showcase the thoughts and works of these saints in creative forms.

The other issue which came up for discussion related to the construction of 21 Shila-Lekh stones at a cost of Rs. 51 lakh in Dera Baba Nanak during the Parkash Purb celebrations.

The Secretary, Border Management Mr. B.R. Sharma patiently listened to all the issues brought up by S. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and assured the minister all assistance by the Union government in this regard.

Among others who were present in the meeting included Additional Chief Secretary Cooperation Mrs. Kalpna Mittal Baruah, Registrar Cooperative Societies Mr. Vikas Garg and Resident Commissioner, Punjab Bhawan New Delhi Mrs. Rakhee Gupta Bhandari.
