PSEB engineers demand recruitment of technical staff

July 04, 2019 07:10 PM

PATIALA: PSEB Engineers Association  has demanded that need based  adequate technical staff be recruited to avoid collapse of  power system and  restoration of basic pay of assistant engineers.

A meeting of the Association was held today and was addressed by Padamjit Singh Patron, Sanjeev Sood president Devinder Goyal General secretary and other office bearers of Association.

The house congratulated Chief minister  under whose able leadership PSPCL/PSTCL has met all time high peak demand of 13700 MW and record daily energy supply of 2999.6 lakh units. The performance of both the  power companies is excellent  despite extreme shortage of staff and engineers and technical staff are continuously working under stress.

Sanjeev Sood deplored the  negative & biased attitude of Punjab bureaucracy in denying the engineers of PSPCL/ PSTCL giving start of Rs. 18030 to assistant engineers .The political leadership had already accepted the demand of, the bureaucracy is unnecessarily shuttling the file from one office to another. PSPCL has already recommended the proposal as genuine.

The house  also decided that Punjab Government should  merge the PSPCL and PSTCL on the lines of many frontline power companies both in the private sector and in public sector planning to integrate into a single company having Generation, Distribution and transmission assets, as the trial & error experiment of so called power sector reforms since 2003 had miserably failed to achieve its desired results.
