MOHALI: A one-day workshop on "Practical Aspects of Law of Evidence and Procedural Laws" was organized by University Institute of Legal Studies of the Rayat Bahra University.

The workshop was conducted by Johny Goyal, Advocate, Punjab and Haryana High Court. The workshop aimed at providing practical orientation to learning.

Goyal told the law students that procedures help courts decide cases in a fair and uniform manner. Procedural law makes sure that one party can't unfairly surprise the other during litigation. It means making sure everyone has fair notice of court dates. It also means preventing a party from using delay or harassment tactics.

He said the law of evidence, also known as the rules of evidence, encompasses the rules and legal principles that govern the proof of facts in a legal proceeding. These rules determine what evidence must or must not be considered by the trier of fact in reaching its decision, he added.

While addressing the young legal aspirants of University Institute of Legal Studies in the jam-packed campus auditorium, Dr Daljit Singh, Vice-Chancellor of the Rayat Bahra University, said that the a series of special lectures by distinguished legal luminaries and academicians at University Institute of Legal Studies were being organised to hone the skills of the law students.
