Jalandhar to have 55 model playfields in the rural belt

JALANDHAR: The district administration has decided to build 55 model playfields in Jalandhar. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Vishesh Sarangal said that the Punjab Government has decided to promote the sports by building these model playfields among the youths which would help them to excel in their lives by providing them requisite sports infrastructure.

He said that the five model playfields would be constructed in each block of Jalandhar and work on 22 model playfields would be started within this week for that Rs 1.31 crore would be incurred on the construction of these 22 playfields.
 
During the  first phase, these 22 model playfields will be constructed on one-acre land and these will have volleyball, Kabaddi and basketball grounds in it besides walking area, solar camp lighting and boundary walls.

 Sarangal told that this initiative would give a platform to the young budding players which would help them to groom in the future.The construction work of the playfields would ensure job to the hundreds of the rural people under Mahatma Gandhi-National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MG-NREGA).

He told that this would play a pivotal role in the promotion of sports and other social activities in the district.

Sarangal said that these model playfields would give a grooming platform to the youth hence they would bring laurels for the country and state by participating in national and international events.
