Jakhar urges CM to ensure exemplary action against conspirators, patrons involved in hooch tragedy

CHANDIGARH: President of Punjab Pradesh Congress Mr Sunil Jakhar today urged the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to ensure exemplary action against the conspirators, financiers, patrons and officers involved in unfortunate hooch tragedy.

The President of Punjab Congress, who called on the Chief Minister, said that the biggest achievement of the Congress government in Punjab was to establish the rule of law by uprooting the Jungle Raj prevailing from more than a decade. However, he said that the hooch tragedy has dented the image of the state government. Mr Jakhar, while welcoming announcement of the Chief Minister to book perpetrators of this unfortunate tragedy for murder, said that this initiative have restored faith of people in state government.

The President of Punjab Congress said that to further win the confidence of people the investigation into the case must be conducted in a prompt and time bound manner. He said that exemplary action must be ensured against the conspirators, financiers, patrons and officers involved in this unfortunate man made tragedy. Mr Jakhar said that these conspirators, financiers, patrons and officers must be exposed and exemplary punishment should be ensured to them.

The President of Punjab Congress said that if involvement of any politician or officer for patronising this nexus was found then severest of severe action must be taken against them also. He said that the roots of such malpractices were 10-15 years old and need to wiped out with a heavy hand by exposing the perpetrators. Mr Jakhar said that departmental laxity was also responsible for this tragedy and officers found for shielding this nexus or fir callousness of his/ her duty must be brought to book.

The President of Punjab Congress said that suspension or dismissal was not enough but such officers must be booked and ensured exemplary punishment so that it acts as a deterrent for others in the future. He said that the Punjab Congress was  fully committed to ensure strict punishment to all the culprits of this crime against Humanity. Mr Jakhar envisioned that Chief Minister would
ensure justice to victims by putting the perpetrators behind the bars.
