First postive case in Rupnagar district surfaced in Village Chatamli

RUPNAGAR:  The first positive Covid 19 of Rupnagar district was detected today in village Chatamli near Kurali. The patient has no travel history, the official sources said.

The 50 year old Patient was recently admitted in Sector 16 Hospital Chandigarh for some other ailment and returned home few days back. The health authorities had taken his sample considering him a suspect for Corona virus. His result was received today and he was declared postive. He was admitted in PGI Chandigarh today evening.

It is learnt that patient is husband of the village sarpanch and was active in distribution of food grains to poor during curfew. The health and police officials sealed his house and area. The samples of his family members have also been taken and isolated at home.

Meanwhile, the police has also traced five members of Tablighi Jamaat and send their blood samples for Corona virus testing.
