District administration honors the freedom fighters by Visiting their homes

PATIALA:In wake of COVID-19 situation, expressing solidarity towards the legends of Freedom Struggle, the District Administration Patiala visited the homes of the freedom fighters across the district to honor the freedom fighters who had made invaluable contribution to the freedom of the country.
Divulging vtge details, DC Kumar Amit said that following the decision to celebrate Independence Day in a simple and concise manner this time due to the COVID-19 epidemic, the district administration felicitated the freedom fighters who took part in the freedom struggle by visiting their homes.
As part of the district administration's initiative, SDMs/ Tehsildars paid a visit to the freedom fighters' homes in their areas today.
SDM Patiala Charanjit Singh said that Tehsildar Ranjit Singh called on the freedom fighters Mohkam Singh at Vadda Arai Majra, Puran Singh at village Alipur Arai and Mohan Singh at Urban Estate. Conveying the greetings of the Deputy Commissioner Mr. Kumar Amit, the Tehsildar said that it was due to the sacrifices made by these living legends that we are enjoying the warmth of Independence.
These freedom fighters congratulated the people of the country on the 74th Independence Day and wished for the progress of the country and the welfare of all. Narrating the story of his freedom struggle, Mohan Singh says, "My village was Tin (Three) Chakk, Tehsil Nankana Sahib, District Sheikhupura. There was a strong resentment among the people aginst the Britishers. I was assigned the task to bring printed pamphlets from Lahore to by distributing them among the people for connecting them with the freedom struggle and after reading by them, all the pamphlets would be collected and distributed to others for reading. After some time the Britishers became suspicious of my activities and I was arrested but due to my young age, I was sentenced to 9 months and after that I was kept under constant surveillance by the British Rulers.''
Freedom Fighter Puran Singh said, "I took part in the Quit India Movement during the freedom struggle and was arrested during a rally and detained for one year and four months". Describing his contribution to the freedom struggle, Mohkam Singh said, "I was born in 1924. He was detained by the British government in Lahore Jail for nine months while taking part in the Quit India Movement.
On the occasion, the freedom fighters who were at the forefront of the freedom struggle against the British rule congratulated the people of the country on the 74th Independence Day and appealed to follow the instructions given by the government to prevent the spread of Corona virus. "Victory in any kind of battle can only be achieved if we are vigilant and now we all need to be vigilant to protect ourselves, our families and our society from Corona, " he said.
