DC directs officials to ensure timely disposal of feedback given by Gogs

JALANDHAR:Warns officials for strict action in case of undue delay
Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar  Varinder Kumar Sharma today warned the officers of serious repercussions in case of any inordinate delay to dispose of feedback by Guardians of Governance (GoGs).

Chairing a meeting here today to review the implementation of this flagship scheme launched by Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, the Deputy Commissioner said that this scheme would was acting as a catalyst in providing transparent and accountable governance to people. He said that Jalandhar has the pride of being amongst the first districts of the state to have implemented this scheme. Sharma said that since September 1, 2018, till this month 1.31 lakh feedbacks have been submitted by the GoGs for the effective functioning of various departments.

 The Deputy Commissioner said that GoGs were the real eyes and ears of the state government as they were providing valuable information for streamlining the working of the district administration and state government. He said that the valuable information provided by the GoGs was helping a lot in making the administration responsive and accountable. Sharma  said that as soon as any issue was flagged by the GoGs the administrative departments must ensure time bound action on these complaints so that people could be facilitated.

The Deputy Commissioner asked the departments of Governance Reforms (Sewa -Kendras), agriculture, social justice, NRI affairs, PWD, Social Security, water supply Revenue, Rural
development and Panchayat to dispose off the issues pertaining to their department at the earliest. He asked these departments to submit the Action Taken Report by the issues flagged by the GoGs at the earliest.  Sharma categorically said that any sort of callousness in this work was unwarranted and undesirable.
Earlier, the District Head of the GoGs Major General (Retd.) Balwinder Singh  apprised the Deputy Commissioner about the functioning of the GoG in the district.
