Chhina Slams Punjab Govt for not Implementing Ayushman Bharat Yojana

AMRTSAR: BJP Senior Leader Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina today slammed the Congress Government in Punjab for not implementing Centre's Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Yojana which aims to provide a health coverage of Rs. five lakh per family. He said many vulnerable families eligible for the benefits could have avail the benefits but for the indifferent attitude of the state government they have been devoid of the scheme.

Chhina who undertook a tour to various villages in Ajnala said whie addressing the porr section of the societies that that the scheme is the world's largest fully government-funded health insurance programme which will set an example for countries across the world but Captain led state government in Punjab has not avail the scheme fully. He said a number of states in the country have made the optimum use of the scheme but Punjab was not able to use the same.

While addressing a public meeting at Ajnala he expressed anguish at the crippled health sector in the state and continued major healthcare crisis with many ills plaguing government-run hospitals. Chhina emphasized on the dire need of implementing Centre's PMJAY which has proved to be a game-changer initiative to serve the poor in other states. "While Punjab government’s Bhagat Puran Singh Sehat Bima Yojna provides a cover of only Rs 50,000, Ayushman Bharat provides a cover of 10 times", informed Chhina.

Accusing the Capt government for the miserable condition of government health centers and hospitals, Chhina ridiculed the claims of Chief Minister of taking the state to higher orbit of development and strengthening capacity building in health sector. "The health sector requires special attention in order to drive growth, employment and economic prosperity in a state”, said he adding that the government of Punjab needs to be conducive towards a revolutionary change in the health sector of the state. Raising investment in various specialty hospitals in the state, with due emphasis on economic concerns in the need of the hour in Punjab", claimed Chhina.
