A Week-Long Workshop on Data Science at KCA

AMRITSAR: The seven-day-long national workshop on Data Sciences: Theory and Practice today concluded at Khalsa College here today. Organized by the PG department of Computer Science and Applications, the workshop had the experts discussing the vital issues of changing computer technology and its impacts.

The deliberations highlighting utilization of big data including the artificial intelligence, data storage and management is emerging as separate subject today, said Dr. Hardeep Singh, Head, Department of Computer Science, GNDU. He also focused on gaining knowledge about how data science can assist in finding solutions to data mining, safety of the data and artificial intelligence.

Principal Dr. Mehal Singh who welcomed the guest speakers said the College has taken a big and first initiative in the region by conducting such an event. ``The workshop welcome experts from academia, the private sector, researchers and faculty members as participants", said he.

Puneet Jindal, Manmeet Duggal, Abhinav Shandliya, all data scientist, Dr. Neeraj Kumar Nehra, and Dr. Anil Kumar Verma, both from Thapar Institute of Eng. & Technology, Patiala and Dr. Gurvinder Singh, Professor, GNDU also spoke on the ocassion. They also distributed the certificates and congratulated the participants and the organizing team. Prof. Harbhajan Singh Randhawa, HOD delivered the vote of thanks and said that such events help the faculty in enriching their knowledge in ever changing IT world and also benefits researchers in learning new concepts on big data.
