23rd Annual Conference of Punjab ophthalmological society (Ophthafeast)to begins from Dec 6

JALANDHAR:The  23rd Annual Conference of Punjab ophthalmological society (Ophthafeast) of eye surgeons of Punjab and adjoining states of Chandigarh, Haryana, Himachal, dedicated to the 550th Parkash Purab (Birth Anniversary) of Guru Nanak is being held at The Grand Lilly Resorts Jalandhar from  December 6 to 8.

In addition to scientific deliberations, the concept of Guru Nanak about environment Pavan Guru Pani Pita Mata Bharat Mahat, Women Rights (So Kyon Manda Aakhiye Jit Jamme Rajan) will be highlighted during the conference by the dedication of sessions and display of flexes and placards. The delegates and faculty will be honoured by plant saplings from a nursery temporarily established at the conference site. Society was found 23 years back in this city only by the efforts of its founders like Dr. Balbir Singh Bhaura and Dr. Sansar Singh (Founder President).

1st conference in 1997 was held in this city only with Dr. Balbir Singh Bhaura as its founder organising secretary.

This time conference is being hosted by Jalandhar Ophthalmological Society under the able guidance of Dr. Vivek Arora (President JOS) Dr. Damanjot K Dhinga (Secretary JOS), Dr. Vineet Garg (Treasure JOS) Dr. Vipan Chawla (Scientific Committee In-charge JOS) Dr. Anurag Julka (Organising Secretary) and the team headed by Dr. V.K. Mahajan (Org Chairperson).

Dr Bhaura at Press Conference said 'We have international faculty from USA National faculty from all major cities and institutions of repute like AIMS, L V Prasad institute Hyderabad and PGI Chandigarh'.

Present President of AIOS Dr. S. Natarajan is being honoured with oration award. Past President of AIOS Dr. D. Ramamurthy is among our surgeons who are going to do Live Surgery. Other surgeons of live surgery (being telecast from two centres Akal Eye Hospital and Mahajan Eye Hospital) to The Grand Lilly Resorts are Dr. Balbir Singh Bhaura (Jalandhar) Dr. Ankush Mahajan (Jalandhar) Dr. Priya Narang (Ahmadabad) Dr. Harshul Tak (Jaipur) Dr. Mohan Rajan (Chennai) and Dr. Manpreet Singh (PGI Chandigarh).

Our chief guest is Dr. Amar Agarwal today’s Sushruta of ancient India, who has innumerable innovations and is of international repute in Ophthalmology will grace the occasion as Chief Guest on the occasion.

Our guest of honour will also be the environmentalist Baba Balbir Singh Seechewal who initiated present regulation in the environment and has been awarded Padma Shri. His work of cleaning Kali Bein of Guru Nanak is now known in the world and he is associated with 550th Guru Nanak Purab celebration, national green trust and Punjab Pollution Control Board.

We have Poster  Session-15, Quiz and a unique session of Breakfast with Young Ophthalmologists, Session on Technology and Medicine, OPL (Ophthalmic Premier League, Symposium on Oculoplasty and Aesthetics and pre-conference courses. He said an international faculty we have 40 National Faculty and 30 Host Faculty would participate in the Conference.

"Th Highlights of the conference include optional trips to Sultanpur Lodhi and Dera Baba Nanak (Gurudwara Chola Sahib) and Indo Pak Corridor for delegates and faculty".

Life beyond Ophthalmology displaying the activities of ophthalmologists like tracking hiking swimming cycling photography horse riding will be displayed in the form of videos at the conference site.

Cyclothon (Cycle Rally) on 8th morning to create awareness about health and environment is also being organised.
