The third edition of coveted Military Literature Festival (MLF) - brain child of Chief Minister Punjab Captain Amarinder Singh - yet again promises to ignite minds with a watershed of information on defence issues and of the men whose valour and blood makes world a harmonious place to live in. Leading the fest with discussions in various aspects of military and sharing his experiences of serving the country in armed forces, Captain Amarinder Singh has brought together the finest men from battle grounds and literary fields.

Spread over three days from Dec 13 to Dec 15 at UT Lake Club, the military literature extravaganza will be inaugurated by the Governor Punjab His Excellency VP Badnore. With legedary literrateur Sir Mark Tully, historian Pushpesh Pant, Ramon Magsaysay awardee Ravish Kumar, gallantry award winners and defence experts making strong presence at the fest, visitors will be steered into batches of sessions focusing on various issues.

Being held from December 13 to December 15, the event will be witness to panel discussions on subjects ranging from military histories to wars to current cyber security concerns. It also encapsulates stories of battleground from the gallantry awards winners that will be shared during Samvad. All the three days will also have Clarion Call theatre events comprising of special audio visual shows on Josh...Jazbaaa and Junoon... of being part of armed forces.

On Dec 13 at the Venue A (Sep Ishar Singh VC 28 Punjabi/2 Sikh) the first discussion will be on Who Was The Victor Of the Battle of Haldighati. Panelists of the discussion will be His Excellency Shri VP Singh Badnore Governor of Punjab and Irfan Habib, while Lt Gen Bhopinder Singh will be the moderator. It will be followed by session on Make In India and the Nation's Security wherein Rahul Bedi will be the moderator and panelists Amit Cowshish, Rajeev Chandrashekhar MP, Dr. Vivek Lall, Lt Gen Arun Sahni and General VP Malik will hold discussions.

Moderator for panel discussion on "Did The Battle of Kohima Save India" will be Sqn Ldr Rana Chhina, while the panelists include Col Dr Robert Lyman, Lt Gen JS Bajwa, Yaiphaba Meetei Kangjam and Brig Allan Mallinson. Panel discussion on The Taliban and ISIK in Kashmir will have Lt Gen Ata Hasnain as Moderator, while the panelists will be Lt Gen DS Hooda, Abhinav Kumar, IPS and AS Dulat, IPS.

Similarly, at the Venue B (2/LT Premindra Singh Bhagat, VC Bombay Sappers), discussion will be held on Dilli Fateh – Banda Singh Bahadur Ton Ranjit Singh De Daur Da JangiItihas (Punjabi) will have Bubbu Tir as moderator, while Prof Jasbir Singh and Dr Amanpreet Singh will be the panelists. Discussion on Medieval Military Architecture – Forts of India will be moderated by renowned by renowned historian Prof Pushpesh Pant, while the panelists will be Lt Gen DDS Sandhu, Amita Baig and GS Channi. It will be followed by discussion on The ISI, Taliban and Afghanistan that Tilak Devasher will moderate and panelists will be V. Balachandran, Vivek Katju, Christine Fair and Maj Gen BK Sharma. Topic Implications of China’s Belt and Road Initiative will be moderated by C Raja Mohan, while panelists for discussion will include Jayadeva Ranade, Maj Gen GG Dwivedi and Tilak Devasher. At the venue C (Hav Umrao Singh, VC) discussion will be held on book ten books on war and military.

Meanwhile on second day Dec 14, the panel discussion on The Jallianwala Bagh Massacre and The Freedom Movement will have Kishwar Desai as the Moderator and panelists will include Dr Gavin Rand, Prof Sukhdev Singh Sohal, Manish Tiwari and Walter Reid. The panel discussion on Understanding The Message of Balakot will have Air Marshal KK Nowhar as Moderator. Panelists for the discussion will include Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa, Samer Joshi, Pravin Sawhney and Alan Warnes.
Similarly discussion on The Anarchy: The Relentless Rise of The East India Company and Empire will remain the most sought after discussion with Sir Mark Tully moderating it. Panelist Oliver Everett will give 20-30 min AV presentation on The Contribution of Britain to India in Various Fields and another panelist would be Walter Reid. Discussion on topic Imphal: The Last Battle of The Japanese Empire will see Maj Gen AP Singh as the moderator, while panelists will be Col Dr Robert Lyman, Arambam Agamba Singh, Pushpinder Singh and Brig Allan Mallinson.

At the Venue B the discussion on Jingoism and Hyper – Nationalism – An Indian Perspective will be moderated by Sir Mark Tully and panelists will include Swati Chaturvedi and Kanu Priya. Same day the session on Ek Aur Satyagraha Bharat Ki Atma Ke Liye (Hindi) will be moderated by Arfa Khanum Sherwani, while the panelists will be Ravish Kumar and Manish Tiwari.

Discussion on The Leadership and Campaigns of Field Marshal Slim will be moderated by Lt Gen TS Shergill and the panelists will include Chief Minister Punjab Captain Amarinder Singh, Col Dr Robert Lyman and Brig Alan Mallinson. Discussion on Spymasters and Cyber–Intelligence in War and Peace will be moderated by KC Verma and panelists will include Lt Gen Sanjive Langer, Jayadeva Ranade and Ritu Sarin. At Venue C discussions will be held on six books.

On the concluding day Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh will preside over the closing ceremony. The last day Venue A will have panel discussion on Run Silent, Run Deep, Strike Hard! will be moderated by Admiral Sunil Lanba, while panelists will be V Adm AK Singh, Bharat Karnad and R Adm Monty Khanna. Discussion on Article 370 and the Death – Knell of Terrorism will see AS Dulat as moderator, while panelists will include Ram Madhav, Manoj Joshi and Lt Gen DS Hooda. There would also be Shoulder to Shoulder: An Interactive Session with the United Kingdom Military Team.

Similarly, at Venue B there would be discussion on Creation of The Post of Chief of Defence Staff will be held that Lt Gen Aditya Singh will moderate. Panelists will include Shekhar Dutt, IAS and Admiral VS Shekhawat. Discussion will also be held on Lessons Learnt From the Kargil War and Their Implementation with Lt Gen PK Singh as moderator, while panelists will include Lt Gen JS Cheema and Shekhar Dutt, IAS. Also discussion will be held on Does the Red Corridor Really Exist wherein the moderator will be Ajai Sahni and panelists will include Arun Bhagat IPS, Brig BK Ponwar, Nandini Sundar and HJ Dora, IPS.
