Sangrur leads in paddy procurement

CHANDIGARH:99.41% Lifting accomplished in the State
Payments worth Rs.24574 crore made
With over 90% paddy arrivals in the grain markets state-wide, Sangrur leads the State with paddy procurement to the tune of 1654691metric tonnes closely followed by Ludhiana, Moga and Patiala having procured 1626361, 1206246 and 1202459 MT paddy respectively, informed an official spokesman of Government of Punjab.
The Government agencies and private millers have procured 15515747 metric tonnes of paddy in Punjab till November 14 while payment worth Rs. 24574.27 crore has been transferred to the accounts of arthias/farmers by the government, rendering MSP benefits to 1067521 farmers.
Out of the total procurement from various procurement centres in the State, the Government agencies procured 15411761 MT of paddy while 103986 MT has been procured by the millers.
PUNGRAIN has procured 63928821tonnes, MARKFED 3953925 tonnes and PUNSUP procured 3144340 tonnes while Punjab State Warehousing Corporation procured 1713452 MT paddy. The Centre government agency FCI has procured 207160 MT paddy.
As per the 72 hours norm, 99.41% lifting of the purchased paddy has been achieved, he informed.
