Agri teams conduct field inspections in 70 villages for last two days, prevent many stubble burning cases

JALANDHAR:Following the orders of State Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department to contain the stubble burning menace, the local teams of the department have visited as many as 70 villages of the district and prevented several cases of stubble burning.

Divulging the details, the Chief Agriculture Officer Dr Nazar Singh said that around 15 teams were formed to carry out the field inspections in the district and a total of 70 villages in Nakodar, Jalandhar Cantonment, Nurmahal, Shahkot and Kartarpur had been covered extensively in the past two days.

He said that the field teams visited Bhode Saprai, Qadian Wali, Jamsher, Khera, Diwali, Nangal Karar Khan, Gakhlan, Safipur, Chachowal, Jandiala, Gillan, Malllian, Dyalpur, Kudowal, Mir Chora, Bhikha Nangal, Bhagwanpur, Pandori, Nijjra, Kakkar Khurd and others interacted with the farmers who were harvesting the paddy and motivated them to not to burn the paddy stubble.

Dr Singh said that the teams in Bhode Saprai, Qadian Wali and Kartarpur, some farmers who were going to burn the stubble, were stopped and ordered them to use hi-tech machines to sow the stubble in the fields.

He said that the teams also held talks with village sarpanches and asked to ensure none of the farmers in their villages’ burn the stubble to save the environment from the hazardous gases being produced from stubble burning.


He added that teams also asked the progressive farmers to disseminate the message of the anti-stubble burning campaign in their areas to ensure a clean environment.

He said as Punjab Government is celebrating 550th Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji in a big way, it is our moral duty to follow the teachings of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji by wiping out the stubble burning menace from the state.
