Padma Shri award holder former Hazoori raagi of Golden Temple found positive of COVID 19

AMRITSAR:  Tense full situation noticed in and around residence of  former Hazori Ragi of  Golden Temple Nirmal Singh (62) when he was tested positive of Corona virus.

Confirming about the positive test, civil surgeon Dr.Prabhdeep Kaur Johal said that today report given by the Government Medical college was positive.

Earlier, on March 30, in suspicion Ragi Nirmal Singh was admitted in the General ward of Guru Nanak Dev Hospital, since his chest x-ray indicated severe chest infection along with lungs.

Nirmal Singh has recently returned from abroad, on his return he was feeling breathlessness, dizziness and fever. On 29th his tests were carried out in the Shri Guru Ramdas Research Institute of Medical Sciences and hospital and finally he was referred to Guru Nanak Hospital for further advanced diagnose.  

Meanwhile, police has sealed the complete area around the residence of Ragi Nirmal Singh, adjoining houses were being quarantined.

It is also learnt that after his return from abroad, he also held big SAMELAN (large religious gathering) in Delhi and some other places.

Health department was also busy today to quarantine the family members and friends of Ragi Nirmal Singh who remained with him for the last one week.

He is one of the excellent raagis having knowledge of all the 31 Raags in Gurbani of Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

For his services in the field of "arts", he was awarded the Padma Shri award (India's fourth highest civilian award) by the government of India in 2009. He was the first hazoori raagi to receive this award.
