National highway jammed for two hours

AMRITSAR: Showing anger against the former Jathedar Akal Takht (highest Sikh temporal seat) Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti,people of particular community (Balmik) today blocked the G.T. Road (national highway) at Jandiala town nearly 25 kilometers away from the Amritsar city.

Protesters lifted jam after being assured by the District Administration that as per law a legal action to be initiated against Vedanti for hurting the sentiments of particular community.

Protesters during protest set ablaze junk rubber tyers in the middle of roads.

Protesters alleged that Vedanti in one of his book authored blasphemous remarks regarding the spiritual saint of their community.
