August 25, 2019 02:43 PM

CHANDIGARH: The senior Congress leaders with the inclusion of 2 Cabinet Ministers and 8 MLAs have castigated BJP leader and MP Subramaniam Swamy for the latter's statement advocating halting of Sri Kartarpur Sahib Corridor work. The Congress leader has said that the statement has hurt the Sikh sentiments especially of the 'Nanak Naam Leva Sangat' who has been praying for the opening of the corridor.

Taking the SAD-BJP alliance to task in a joint press communique, S. Randhawa and Mr. Bharat Bhushan Ashu besides MLAs Mr. Harpratap Singh Ajnala, Mr. Kuljit Singh Nagra,   Mr. Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, Mr. Fatehjung Singh Bajwa, Mr. Barindermeet Singh Pahra, Mr. Kulbir Singh Zira, Mr. Balwinder Singh Laadi and Mr. Santokh Singh Bhalaipur said that the Akalis who have been masquerading as the sole custodians of the Sikhs, must come clean on the issue and spell out their stand that how would they react to a senior leader of the party with which they so loudly profess to have immensely close relationship, openly and so brazenly opposing Sri Kartarpur Corridor. They also said that the entire Punjab especially Sikh circle only know it too well that the Badal family loves to cling to power rather than working for Sikh interests. The Congress leaders further added that the silence of the SAD on various issues from GST on Gurudwaras earlier and now opposition to Sri Kartarpur Sahib corridor proves that SAD is hand in glove with BJP in this sin.

The Congress leaders further said that it was part of a deep rooted conspiracy that Subramaniam Swamy gave this statement in Chandigarh. Now, with the statement the cat has come out of the bag and the Punjab BJP leadership must also clarify their position as to whether they are in agreement with the statement of Subramaniam Swamy or not. They also said that the Sikh Panth would never forgive SAD-BJP for creating obstacles in fulfilling the long cherished wish of the Sikh Panth.
