PCC annexe 25th J P Atray Memorial trophy

CHANDIGARH: Punjab Cricket Club beat Punjab Cricket Association Colts XI by 134 runs in the final of the 25th J P Atray Memorial Cricket Trophy at the Sector 16 Cricket Stadium here today.
Batting first Punjab Cricket Club scored 252 for 9 in 50 overs. PCC started on a disastrous note as they lost their opener Abhishek Sharma who was castled by Ikjot Singh Thind before he could open his account. Then Abhijeet Garg and Sharad lumba put on 105 runs for the second wicket before Sharad Lumba was caught by Prabhsimarn of Gaurav chaudhary for 48 of 71 balls inclusive of 8 boundaries.
Sharad Lumba’s departure brought skipper Mandeep Singh to the crease and he alongwith Abhijeet Garg put on 34 runs for the third wicket before Abhijeet Garg was run out by Ramandeep for 68 of the 94 balls with 10 boundaries.
Mandeep Singh went on to score 67 of 62 balls with 6 boundaries and 2 sixes, before being caught by Ramandeep off Barinder Sran . PCC Innings ended on 252 for 9 in 50 overs.
For PCA Colts Guarav Chaudhary (2 for 37), Maninder Singh (2 for 33), Barinder Sran (1 for 43), Ikjot Singh Thind (1 for 43) and Raghu Sharma (1 for 59) were the most successful bowlers.
Replying PCA COLTS had a shaky start when they lost their openers Sanvir Singh (0) Prabhsimarn singh (6) with the score reading 13 for 2 in 3.3 overs. Abhishek Gupta 35 of 55 balls with 5 boundaries and Gaurav Chaudhary 28 off 55 balls with 2 boundaries put on 50 runs for the fourth wicket.
Left arm spinner Prerit Dutta wove a web around PCA Colts batsmen and did not allow them any liberty to get out of the web as he snared 6 wickets for 18 runs in 7.5 overs  and sent PCA Colts hurtling to a low total of 118 in 32.4 overs.
 For PCC Prerit Dutta (6 for 18), Sandeep Sharma (2 for 13) and Siddharth Kaul (1 for 22) were the main wicket takers. PCC won the match by 134 runs to claim the winners trophy and prize of 2.0 lakh.
Prerit dutta for his brilliant bowling was named man of the match. PCA Colts got the runners-up trophy and cash prize of 1.0 lakh.  The best batsmen of the tournament Award went to Sanvir Singh. The best bowler award went to Prerit Dutta of PCC while man of the series award for Sunil Sharma trophy went to Mandeep Singh for scoring 318 runs and claiming 5 wickets.  
The final match was inaugurated in the morning by Mr. Manoj Yadav, IPS DGP Haryana While Mr. Ranjit Pachnanda IPS Retd. Chairman HPSC gave away the awards in the evening.
