CHANDIGARH:The Bharatiya Janata Party today said that former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s era of ‘Policy Paralysis’ was over and India was now witnessing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s era of growth & development.

Tarun Chugh, the national secretary of the BJP, said Manmohan Singh handed over a crumbling economy plagued by numerous financial scandals and infirmities in banking sector.

Chugh said the $2 Trillion Indian economy ranked 11th at the end of Congress-led UPA regime but now ranks 7th due to the transparent and progressive policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is leading India to become a $5 Trillion economy by 2024.

“If one analyses the present economic scenario and the efforts put in by the incumbent government in the last 6 years, one cannot disagree that a lot has been done to improve the infrastructure, ” he said.

Detailing the efforts, Chugh said, the length of railway tracks laid has doubled during the Modi regime.  “Earlier, only 1, 727 kms railway tracks were laid but now the length of railway tracks laid has gone up to 3, 035 kms. The length of rail routes electrified has risen from 3, 038 kms to 13, 687 kms, which is a highly significant increase.  The number of Airports was 65 earlier but now it has crossed a century mark, ” he said.

The BJP leader said during UPA regime, only 12 kms roads were laid on National Highways in a day while now the government was laying 20 kms road per day.  Similarly, only 70 kms rural roads were laid in a day whereas now 133 kms roads are being laid.  “Earlier only 55 percent of the villages had approach roads. Now 91 percent of the villages are accessible by road route, ” he said.

Chugh said the team led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has paved a path of unparalleled growth and development and the remarkable point is that there is no allegation of corruption on the government.
