Union HRD Minister inaugurated three top events at LPU

JALANDHAR:Initiated LPU’s Study Grant distribution of Rs 4.1 Crore to 295 meritorious students of the country; Annual ‘One World’ Festival of the university; and, All India Inter-University Aquatics Championship (Women) 2019-20
Hon’ble Union Minister of Human Resource Development, Government of India, Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ visited Lovely Professional University (LPU), today, where he inaugurated three top events of the university in diverse fields. For both Academics & CSR efforts, Mr Minister initiated LPU’s ‘Study Grant’ distribution of Rs 4.1 Crore to 295 meritorious students of the country. For co-curricular activities, he raised the curtain for initiation of a ‘decade’ of annual ‘One World’ Festival at the university; and, in sports, there was the inauguration of All India Inter-University Aquatics Championship (Women) 2019-20 at Olympic Size, all-weather swimming pool of university.

Addressing Study Grant award winner students as “selected diamonds” from across the country, at densely packed Shanti Devi Mittal Auditorium of the university, Hon’ble Minister made all to pledge to utilize each and every moment of their life; accept challenges; reach far ahead of all; ignore trivial matters; never compromise with the circumstances; and, thus prove to be born to change the world. Quoting great leaders of the country including former President Abdul Kalam, Prime Ministers Lal Bahudar Shastri, Atal Bihari Vajpayee and present PM Narendra Modi; Minister Nishank invoked all to learn from great leaders’ lives and take India to the top in the world by adding regular glories to it.

Talking about new education policy of the country, HRD Minister informed that it is open to all for suggestions and hitherto more than 2 lac suggestions have been received. He shared that being young India with young ideas, a new India is sure to arise through novel kind of works and researches. He wanted all to believe upon themselves with positivism and imbibe good thoughts for all-around progress.

Appreciating productive endeavours taken at LPU in diverse fields, in a very short span, HRD Minister implored LPU to adopt more of the nearby villages under ‘Unnant Vikas’ programme and implement governmental policies there for the betterment of common folks. He also congratulated LPU for linking meritorious students’ community with its vision and mission and to make them achieve their aims. Talking about the sports field winning activities at LPU, he awakened all to be always fit to see ‘Fit India’.  For making the whole world in a miniature form at LPU with “one family” attitude, through annual ‘One World” fest, Mr Minister applauded LPU for upholding such a great culture of the country at the campus. He wished that LPU earn prestigious ranking in the list of world’s top universities.  

Prior to this, Minister was welcomed at the Campus by Lovely Group Chairman Ramesh Mittal, Vice Chairman  Naresh Mittal; LPU Chancellor Ashok Mittal and Pro-Chancellor  Rashmi Mittal. Former Mayor of Jalandhar Rakesh Rathore, Senior Civil and Police authorities, parents of the award-winning students were also present. Chancellor Mittal thanked HRD Minister for sparing his valuable time and let all know about his illustrious achievements in diverse fields including leadership, literature, social causes and organizational skills. He also assured Minister to be fully co-operative with him in implementing new education policy in the country. Mr Mittal also implored HRD Minister to involve LPU for organizing national events.

Illustrative, LPU has launched ‘Study Grant’ through its annual LPU NEST (National Entrance & Scholarship Test) to honour meritorious students, who work hard to get admissions in the top institutions of the country including IIMs, IITs, NITs, NLUs, IHMs, NIFTs and more. The award-winning students had appeared for LPU’s entrance test before making to the top of the admission lists of different institutions across the country. Annual ‘One World’ Fest of the university is chalked out by 4000+ International students from 50+ countries studying at LPU; and, sports events at the campus are arranged under the aegis of Association of Indian Universities.
