Punjab CM condemns grenade attack on Punjab Roadways bus at Jammu

CHANDIGARH: Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has strongly condemned the cowardly grenade attack on a Punjab Roadways bus by suspected militants at Jammu bus stand and has directed the State Chief Secretary and DGP to coordinate with their counterparts in Jammu & Kashmir to ensure all support to the victims and their families.

The attack, on Punjab Roadways Bus No. PB 06 Q 9565 of Pathankot Depot and on way to Amritsar from Jammu, claimed one life and left 33 persons injured. The injured included one person from Punjab, namely Harjeet Singh S/O Jagir Singh R/O Village Rai Chak, Dera Baba Nanak, Police District Batala. He sustained injury in his right leg but was out of danger, Chief Principal Secretary to CM, Suresh Kumar, said after talking to him. The Chief Minister had directed him to get in touch with Harjeet and ensure the best treatment and all possible help for him.

Expressing anguish over the dastardly grenade attack, the Chief Minister said the attempts of the militants to disturb the peace and harmony in the Valley were highly condemnable and had to be fought by one and all. Their nefarious designs will not be allowed to succeed, said Captain Amarinder.

The Chief Minister extended his sympathies to the family of the deceased, identified as 17-year-old Mohammad Sharik of Haridwar (Uttarkhand).
