Manish Tewari reviews flood situation in Anandpur Sahib areas

NAWANSDHAHR:  Sri Anandpur Sahib MP Manish Tewari closely monitored the flood situation on an hourly basis  since late last evening in conjunction with the Ropar administration and  the Bhakra Beas Management. The rescue and relief operations are on- going .
He has also issued instructions for assessing the losses to the standing crops due to the floods after the situation stabilises. Tewari disclosed that he had briefed the Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh also about the situation in the area. Besides, he had spoken to the local officials including the Deputy Commissioner and the Chairman BBMB.
The MP said, while the administration has already taken precautionary measures, but due to the heavy and continuous rains, several areas had been flooded and crops had been damaged. He said he would request the state government to compensate the damage after making an assessment of the losses.
Tewari said  that joint efforts were  being done by the local administration along with the local people to provide succour and relief to the people. He called for better coordination between the public and the civil administration as both were working together to facilitate safety of people.
Meanwhile, as per latest  official information, down stream water discharge from Ropar Head Works has started decreasing gradually. It was 1, 63, 010 lakh cusec at 6 pm while earlier at 2 pm it was 1.92 lakh cs and before that at 12 noon, it was 2.23 lakh cusec, informed official sources.
