Khalsa College Pays Homage to Dr. Khem Singh Gill

AMRITSAR: Remembering its one of the most worthy students, the Khalsa College management today remembered `son of the soil’ Padma Bhushan awardee, legendry Agriculture scientists and former VC of PAU, Dr. Khem Singh Gill who passed on Tuesday. Apart from the mourn for two minutes for the departed soul, the students, teaching fraternity and management paid rich tributes to the great exponent of agriculture education and practices.

Khalsa College Governing Council honourary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina said Gill who took birth in the ordinary farming family at Kaleke village in Moga district was  student of Agriculture department  in 1945 to 1949 and after completion of bachelor of science in Agriculture he went for higher studies. ``He was always concerned about rural upliftment which he used to say was possible only through education for the farmers”, said Chhina.

Principal Dr Mehal Singh said h visited the College last in 2016 and specially interacted with the faculty and students from Agriculture here. ``He was a real son of the soil whose contribution to the green revolution and taking the agriculture education to the rural areas would always be remembered”, said he adding that they were proud that the great agriculture scientist had studied here.
