Judges of Punjab and Haryana High Court inspect national lok adalat at Jalandhar

JALANDHAR: Executive Chairman of Punjab Legal Services Authority cum Judge Punjab and Haryana High Court Justice RK Jain and Inspecting Judge Jalandhar Session Division Justice AK Tyagi today inspected the National Lok Adalat organized  here by the District Legal Services Authority today at the District Judicial Complex.

Divulging the details, Justice RK Jain said that during this National Lok Adalat 15 benches including 12 in Jalandhar, one in Phillaur and two in Nakodar were constituted for  cases pertaining to Hindu Marriage Act (HMA), Motor Accident Claim Tribunal (MACT), Civil, Criminal Compoundable, Cheque bounce and others. He said that during the National Lok Adalat 4934 cases were listed for hearing before these 15 benches out of which 2080 cases were solved on the spot.

Justice Jain said that 2080 cases were resolved on the spot and award worth Rs 17.63 crore was paid to the parties concerned during these Lok Adalats. He further told that decision of the Lok Adalat was final and no appeal could be filed. Secondly, the court fee affixed by the person filing the case, was refunded. Moreover, the amicable solution of a dispute promotes brotherhood amongst the litigants.

Meanwhile, District & Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) , Jalandhar Mr. Sanjeev Kumar Garg said that during the current year legal services to 1461 persons have been provided free of cost. Likewise, CJM-cum-Secretary, DLSA, Jalandhar Mr. Jaapinder Singh said that next National Lok Adalat would be organized on December 14, this year.
