IT Department attached 23 kanals 18 marlas of land in Village Bhularai

PHAGWARA:The Income Tax Department has attached and taken possession of 23 kanals 18 marlas of land worth Rs 72 Lac situated in Village Bhularai near Phagwara under Income Tax Act 1961 here today. Additional Commissioner Income Tax Rajesh Bali while confirming it told media here on Thursday Evening that the land was belonging to a Village Woman Sukhwinder Kaur resident of Village Cheherru Tehsil Phagwara who purchased the land during financial Year of 2010-2011. Bali said that during the scrutiny of the case the land purchaser Woman could not disclose the source of purchase the immovable property amounting to Rs 72 Lac. Bali said that the Income Tax department raised a demand of Rs 79 Lac which included the penalties under Income Tax Act. He said despite repeated reminders to realise the outstanding amount, the said assesse woman could not deposit the amount of Rs 79 Lac so the Income Tax department was forced to attached the property which could be auctioned as per law soon.
