Free accommodation in tent cities get major response from people as more than 85% of space in three tent cities occupies

CHANDIAGRH/SULTANPUR LODHI:Mla snd dc firm commiment of state giverment to ensure smooth and hassle  free stay of pilgrams coming to holy city..The tent cities constructed by the Punjab government to facilitate the devotees coming to Sultanpur Lodhi got a major  response from the people as the occupancy of three tent cities constructed in the holy city crossed the 31, 000 mark, which was more than 85% of its total capacity.

In order to ensure luxurious and comfortable stay to the devotees coming to the holy city for paying obeisance during the various functions to commemorate 550th parkash utsav of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji, the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has erected three tent cities in the holy city. These cities namely Guru Nanak Nagar I, Guru Nanak Nagar II and Guru Nanak Nagar III were constructed at villages Maachijoa, Taraf Behbal Bahadur (on Lohian Road) and Randhipur respectively. Constructed over 280 acres of land these tent cities were equipped with state of the art facilities to ensure a comfortable stay to the pilgrims.

The tent cities with a capacity of 35, 000 devotees have emerged as a star attraction with people thronging these ultra modern and luxurious stay free of cost by the state government. The tent cities have two bedded cubicals, four bed cubicals, 15 bed and 60 bed dormitories which have emerged as a star attraction amongst the pilgrims.  Till November 5 the occupancy of the tent cities was more than 31, 000 as people from across the globe were coming to the tent cities for getting a unique experience.

Meanwhile, MLA Mr. Navtej Singh Cheema and Deputy Commissioner Mr. DPS Kharbanda said that this was a humble effort by the state government to ensure convenient stay to the pilgrims coming at this holy city. They said that the pilgrims were being provided stay in these tent cities free of cost to ensure that they do not face any sort of inconvenience during the 550th commemorative events to mark the parkash purb of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji. The MLA and Deputy Commissioner said that the state government was committed for this noble cause and no stone was being left unturned to ensure smooth and hassle free stay for devotees.
