Dengue larva detected at 48 places in Jalandhar

JALANDHAR: As a part of its ongoing drive against vector borne diseases under ‘Tandarust Punjab Mission’ in the district,   the anti-larva cell of the Health department and the Municipal Corporation Jalandhar today detected cases of 48 dengue larva in various localities.

Teams of anti-larva cell Sukjinder Singh, Naresh Kumar, Sanjeev Kumar,   Manjeet Singh,   Raj Kumar,   Gurvinder Bajwa and  Gurpal Singh undertook checking Guru Nanak Pura (West), Raj Nagar, Shaheed Babu Labh Singh Nagar, Rattan Nagar, Kabir Nagar and other localities. During the checking the team checked 536 houses, 85 waste containers and 184 air coolers. The team detected dengue larva at seven places in Guru Nanak Pura (West), nine at Raj Nagar, six at Shaheed Babu Labh Singh Nagar, eight at Rattan Nagar, 17 at Kabir Nagar, one at Deep Nagar.   

The team also had detailed interaction with the people during which they apprised them that these places could act as a breeding ground for the mosquitoes to spread diseases like dengue, malaria and others. The team also sprayed medicine for checking the produce of larva at 839 places.
