Punjab Police arrests one drug peddler with three kilograms of heroin

JALANDHAR: In a major initiative aimed at breaking the backbone of drug supply from across the border, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police has arrested a drug peddler with three kilograms of heroin, buried along with Indo-Pakistan border, and Rs 2 lakh drug money.

Divulging the details, the Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that on September 9 the Police has arrested two drug peddlers namely Karanveer Singh and Vikram Singh along with one kilogram of heroin. He said that the accused had revealed that they used to purchase the drug from Makhan Singh and his son Charanjeet Singh of village Gatti Mattad in Ferozepur, after which there names were also added in FIR. Bhullar said that the subsequently a raid was conducted on September 11 during which Makhan Singh was arrested and on his information one kilogram of heroin was recovered from near the BSF post at Gazniwal adding that one pistol, 30 live cartridges and drug money worth RS 6.50 lakh was recovered from his house.

The Commissioner of Police said that the Police had got a tip off that Charanjeet Singh was coming to Jalandhar for seeking bail for him and his father in Swift Dzire car number PB 03 AX 7979. He said that CIA Staff had laid a naka near Wadala chowk on October 11 during which the car was trapped and the accused was arrested. Bhullar said that during the investigation Charanjeet revealed that he has done mechanical engineering from Ghubaya College Jalalabad adding that they owned 2.5 acres of land out of which six kanals land was across the fence.
The Commissioner of Police said that the accused admitted that he and his father had established contact with Pakistan drug smugglers after which they had started ordering consignment of drug from across the border. He said that the order for drugs was placed through whatsapp after which it was delivered by Pakistani smugglers on the land adjoining their land. Mr. Bhullar said that Charanjeet further revealed that one kilogram of heroin was ordered by his father before arrest and two kilogram of heroin was delivered to them on Dusshera night.

The Commissioner of Police said that on the information given by Charanjeet the Police has recovered three kilograms of heroin buried in the land owned by the accused near the Indo-Pak fence. Bhullar said that Rs 2 lakh drug money was recovered from a house taken on rent by accused near Devi Dwar Temple in Jalalabad in district Fazilka. He said that further investigation in the case was going on.
