CHANDIGARH:  Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria, Housing & Urban Development Minister has presided over a meeting on Tuesday with the association of colonizers to review the implementation of the policy formulated to regularize the unauthorized colonies, plots and buildings in the State at PUDA Bhawan, Mohai. The meeting was held in the backdrop of discussion held a few days back with the Association where the colonizers had raised some issues causing hindrance to those interested in applying for regularization.

To start with, the colonizers had requested for extension of last date for applying under the policy. The minister agreed to this demand and announced the extension of last date to October 31, 2019 for applying for regularization.

The Association had brought to the notice of the department that though the 8% interest to be charged from the applicants was waived off; still the applicants were being directed to deposit the penal interest. In the meeting it was decided that no interest or penal interest will be charged from the colonizers of unauthorized colonies.

A Govt. spokesperson informed that department also decided to hold camps on every Wednesday in offices of all the Development Authorities to facilitate the applicants of unauthorized colonies and plots. It was also decided that a helpline number would be started to address the queries of the colonizers and applicants.

Prominent among those present in the meeting were Ms. Vini Mahajan, Additional Chief Secretary, Housing & Urban Development, Ms. Kavita Singh, Chief Administrator, Greater Mohali Area Development Authority-cum-Director, Town & Country Planning, Mr. Gurpreet Singh, Chief Town Planner, Punjab and Chief Administrators of other Special Development Authorities.
