At least 55 Vet Doctors take Oath of Profession at KCVAS

AMRITSAR: At least 55 students took the `oath of profession’ as veterinary doctors on completion of their five-year bachelor degree in Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry at Khalsa College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (KCVAS), here. They were also given certificates and prizes for their performance during the degree program.

The special ceremony was presided over by Principal Dr. Sukhdeep Singh Sidhu during a colourful function. He highlighted significance of veterinary education in the country, saying this was the noblest of the professions as animal care and health is gaining importance world over.

Dr. Sidhu accompanied by the senior faculty members of the college distributed prizes to toppers and those who excelled in the various University and College level sports and cultural competitions. Saplings were planted as part of the drive that will continue for a month.

The sapling, said authorities, were donated by the students who were passing out from the institution as a gift and a Eco Club was also constituted today to plant maximum trees. KCVAS, a recognized college by Veterinary Council of India (VCI) is affiliated to Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana.

Dr Sidhu congratulated the students, coming from all over the country, for completing their five years programs with flying colours and taking oath to become veterinarian. He also appreciated the efforts of faculty for making the function a major success and hoped that in coming days the college would emerge as most prominent academic and research institute not only in Punjab but in entire North India.

Earlier Dr (Col.) Paramjit Singh Mavi, Director Clinics welcomed the guests, head of departments and the faculty who were present during the function. Dr Mavi briefed the academic as well as the extracurricular activities of the passing out batch. A souvenir was released for the successful passing out veterinary graduates which have the complete detail to the students passed in 2019.
