President, Pharmacy Council of India, Dr B. Suresh interacted with LPU Students

Pharmacy Education needs new thrust & direction’: Dr B Suresh, President of Pharmacy Council of India

President, Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), Prof (Dr) B. Suresh visited the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences at LPU, where he interacted with LPU Pharmacy students. Dr Suresh invoked students to bring Pharmacy Profession on the ‘World Map’. Lamenting the improper rise of the Pharmacy Education, Eminent educationist in the annals of Pharmacy, Dr B Suresh shared: “Pharmacy Education needs new thrust & direction.”

Sharing his personal life and journey to present position, he expressed his worries on why pharmacy education is not popular in India. Sharing that health science is the only recession free segment, he emphasized on inter disciplinary science education. He wanted pharmacy graduates to be cultured with Life Sciences’ graduates for realization of goals. On these lines, he asked students to bring a change, and for that they will have to come forward themselves for innovations. He also promised students of complete assistance from the PCI during their professional needs.

Prof Dr Suresh also discussed about the huge demand and emerging scope of clinically trained pharmacy professionals. He hopes that such professionals can face global challenges and compete with the multinationals. Informing students about Indian pharmacy industry in the global scenario, he also talked about various kinds of opportunities in Pharmacy and allied segments, including Pharmaceutical Systems Management. The later has a combo of three sectors- Pharmacy, Engineering and Business Administration. He also laid stress on employment embedded education, and preferred students to work on payments with industry in place of going for further dissertation. Students must work in specialized manner to make pharmacy profession more glorious and result oriented. Here, he explained about programmes of specializations and super- specializations for lucrative career ahead.

Prior to interaction session, warm welcome was accorded to the elite guest by LPU Pro Chancellor Mrs Rashmi Mittal, DG (operation) Dr Subhashish Majumdar, Executive Dean Dr Sanjay Modi and Senior Dean Dr Monica Gulati at Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences.
