A Students Rally Against Female Foeticide organized by KCE

AMRITSAR: A rally against social evils such as female foeticide, rising environmental pollution and drugs was organized by the students of Khalsa College of Education (KCE) here today in collaboration with Youth Services, Amritsar. The rally was flagged off by Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM)-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Sumit Makkar who was the chief guest said said such `awareness rallies' help the students to become aware of the various social evils confronting the societies.

The students carrying placards and banners depicting evils including aids, drugs, female foeticide, dowry, rising crimes walked through the GT Road and campus. Makkar lauded creative efforts of school management especially students who participated actively in such rallies to spread the message against social evils.

College Principal Dr. Harpreet Kaur welcomed the Chief Guest and said the motive behind organizing the rally was to educate and encourage the people in the society to join hands to look after the ways and means to counter the social evils prevalent in the society and stand firmly against them. The Principal said it was the duty of everyone to create awareness against the social evils.

The rallyists holding placards with the slogans “Stop abductions”, "Stop Drug Abuse", "Say no to Dowry" and unanimously resolving to intensely oppose such activities within the town.

Davinder Singh, Assistant Director , Youth Services, Amritsar, delivered the vote of thanks said that such rallies in which besides students and their parents, members of civil society, officers of civil and police administration also participate,   are very effective in delivering the message to counter social evils prevalent in society in a novel way.
